DANIEL TOMEI · CHICAGO / NATIONWIDE
Fractional Creative
director and producer.
I help agency teams turn client briefs into films, photographs, and campaign assets with senior creative producing and hands-on direction.
20+ years of experience, available for an agreed part of your team’s workload. The scope can cover a production from start to finish or the specific support your team needs.
For agencies, brands, and healthcare teams. Project work is welcome, too.

WHAT FRACTIONAL MEANS
Senior experience.
A scope that fits.
What does a fractional creative producer do?
A fractional creative producer provides senior production experience on an ongoing, part-time basis. I help teams shape briefs, plan shoots, direct production, and develop films and photographs for their channels. We agree on the responsibilities, availability, and deliverables together, so my role complements the people already on your team.
You work directly with me. When an assignment needs a larger crew or specialist collaborators, we build that into the plan.
WHEN IT FITS
Extra production support,
where it matters.
01 / AGENCIES
A producer alongside your creative team.
You have the strategy and client relationship. I can help translate the brief into a practical production, assemble the right crew, direct the shoot, or take responsibility for an agreed part of delivery.
02 / BRANDS
Continuity across the work.
When one shoot becomes a series of campaigns, having a producer who knows the brand can keep planning and creative decisions consistent. We work out what needs making and which assets each shoot should produce.
03 / HEALTHCARE
Complex expertise, clearly expressed.
Physicians, patients, and specialists need thoughtful preparation and a comfortable set. I bring experience with interviews, educational series, portraits, and healthcare environments, while your team retains its clinical and approval responsibilities.
THE RESPONSIBILITIES WE CAN SHARE
From the brief
to useful assets.
Each engagement is different. These are areas we can include, with priorities and boundaries agreed before work begins.
- Shape the work. Clarify the audience, story, approach, and deliverables.
- Plan the production. Build a schedule, budget, crew, and shoot plan around the assignment.
- Direct and produce. Lead interviews and shoots, or join an existing production team.
- Carry the work through. Coordinate editing, feedback, color, and delivery within the agreed scope.
- Explore AI-assisted production. Develop selected concepts, visual treatments, or additional versions when the approach suits the brief.

THE EXPERIENCE BEHIND THE OFFER
Real productions.
Relevant experience.
These projects show the kinds of work I bring to an engagement. They are examples of production experience, not a claim that every assignment used a fractional arrangement.

JLL
Executive interview production for Davos 2025: preparing a clear visual approach around busy people, limited time, and a specific communication brief.

BlackDoctor.org
A recurring patient education production with 12 completed classes. The case study explains the production process and distinguishes completed work from work stopped by budget constraints.

GymRatzz
Brand photography and motion capture across outfits and locations. A practical example of planning stills and video together; the AI-assisted social concepts are separate portfolio explorations.
A CLIENT’S PERSPECTIVE

PRACTICAL QUESTIONS
Before we begin,
a few useful answers.
How is fractional support different from hiring for one project?
A project engagement has a defined production and delivery scope. Fractional support creates an ongoing working relationship across agreed priorities. It can help when your team needs recurring senior production input but does not need the same level of support every week. We choose the arrangement around the work, not a fixed package.
Will you own the entire production?
That depends on the assignment. I can lead more of the process or work within your existing team, alongside an agency, creative director, or internal producer. We define who owns the brief, budget, shoot, approvals, and delivery before starting, so everyone knows where decisions sit.
How much does a fractional creative producer cost?
Pricing depends on the responsibilities, time commitment, production requirements, and deliverables. Crew, locations, travel, and post-production can also affect the budget. Share your priorities and a working budget if you have one; I will recommend a scope and provide a proposal before we commit to the work.
Can we start with a single shoot or a short project?
Yes. A defined project can be a useful way to work together before discussing ongoing support. It might be an interview, brand film, photography assignment, or an agreed production role. There is no need to commit to a continuing arrangement just to have an initial conversation.
Do you work only with Chicago teams?
I am based in Chicago and work nationally. Planning, creative reviews, and editing discussions can often happen remotely; shoots are planned around the project location. Tell me where your team and subjects are based so we can discuss travel, local collaborators, and the practical production approach.
How do I check availability?
Send the dates you have in mind, what needs to be made, and the support you are looking for. I will reply personally as soon as I can to discuss fit, availability, and next steps. If a conversation is easier, you can book a 30-minute call through the contact page.
