About KWE

Founded in 1970 and headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, Kintetsu World Express is a leading global provider of air freight, ocean freight, customs brokerage, surface logistics, and distribution (3PL) services. With nearly 700 offices in over 300 cities worldwide and more than 10,000 employees, KWE ranks among the top ten international freight forwarders in the United States. The company's commitment to global security standards strengthens supply chain integrity and reduces risks in logistics operations, ensuring the safety and reliability of logistics operations across diverse industries and regulatory environments. KWE provides comprehensive one-stop logistics solutions to businesses worldwide, delivering cargo with expertise in air, sea, and land transportation.

THE CHALLENGE

Kintetsu World Express, a leading global logistics provider ranked among the top ten international freight forwarders in the United States, required cinematic B-roll footage from their Chicago warehouse as part of a worldwide content library initiative. The footage would serve multiple purposes: brand awareness, recruitment, client-facing marketing, and internal communications across their 300+ city network.

The challenge extended beyond typical warehouse filming. As a clearance-based facility handling sensitive cargo operations, strict security protocols limited filming scope. The project required a producer who could navigate operational restrictions, understand warehouse safety requirements, coordinate with international management, and deliver broadcast-quality content that maintained KWE's modern, efficient brand aesthetic all within a single shoot day.

THE APPROACH

CREATIVE DIRECTOR + CAMERA OPERATOR

Serving dual roles as creative director and camera operator, I collaborated with KWE's Japanese project manager and internal content team to understand their global visual standards. They provided reference footage from other worldwide locations produced by their internal team and contracted freelancers, establishing clear creative direction: cinematic documentary style with energy and corporate polish.

STRATEGIC PLANNING + OPERATIONAL KNOWLEDGE

Drawing on warehouse operations experience and safety protocol understanding, I developed a shot list that captured essential logistics operations, loading docks, sorting operations, employee workflows, machinery in motion, and facility infrastructure while respecting security boundaries and operational constraints.

GIMBAL CINEMATOGRAPHY

All footage was captured using gimbal-stabilized camera movements, creating fluid, cinematic motion that elevated standard warehouse documentation into brand-quality content. This approach delivered the modern, dynamic aesthetic KWE's global content strategy required.

EMPLOYEE DIRECTION + COLLABORATION

Approximately 30 KWE employees participated in the shoot, directed to perform their normal tasks naturally while maintaining professional composure on camera. Rather than staging artificial scenarios, I guided employees to work authentically, capturing genuine operational flow while ensuring visual consistency and broadcast quality.

EDITORIAL MINDSET

Understanding KWE's internal editing workflows, I filmed strategically, capturing editorial-style coverage (wide establishing shots, medium operations, close detail work) that would provide maximum flexibility for their content team to assemble videos for different platforms and purposes.

THE EXECUTION

SINGLE DAY PRODUCTION:
Complete capture of 65 distinct B-roll clips

FOOTAGE COVERAGE:
- Loading dock operations

- Cargo sorting and scanning processes
- Employee workflows and teamwork
- Machinery and equipment in operation
- Facility infrastructure and safety protocols
- Wide establishing shots and intimate detail work

SECURITY COMPLIANCE:
All filming maintained strict adherence to facility security protocols, ensuring sensitive cargo handling areas and proprietary processes remained protected while still capturing comprehensive operational footage.

INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION:
Coordinated seamlessly with Japanese project management and Chicago-based operations team, demonstrating capability to work effectively within global corporate structures and multicultural production environments.

THE RESULT

INTEGRATED INTO GLOBAL CONTENT LIBRARY

All 65 clips were delivered as raw B-roll, providing KWE's internal content team with flexible assets for integration into videos across multiple platforms and purposes. The footage joined content from other worldwide warehouse locations, creating a cohesive global visual library.

DEPLOYED ACROSS MULTIPLE CHANNELS

Footage has been utilized throughout KWE's official YouTube channel and internal communications, supporting brand awareness campaigns, recruitment efforts, client-facing marketing, and operational training materials across their 300+ city network.

TRUSTED IN SECURITY-SENSITIVE ENVIRONMENTS

Successfully navigating clearance-based facility restrictions demonstrated capability to produce high-quality content in regulated, security-conscious environments—proving valuable for logistics, shipping, and other industries requiring discretion and operational awareness.

When you need a producer who can navigate your most complex, security-sensitive, or operationally restricted environments while delivering broadcast-quality content.

Whether it's a single location or part of a worldwide content library, let's talk about creating content that matches your operational reality and brand standards.

No pitch. No pressure. Just a conversation to see if this fits your goals and your workflow.
